Hot Streak

Hot Streak is a game for unlucky players who like to bet and shout at runners, who in this case happen to be mascots who may (or may not) keep running in the right direction.

At the beginning of the game, prepare the race card pack with a card for each pet and a random number of cards based on the number of players. Reveal these cards to all players, then draw a bet slip from those displayed, then, in reverse order, draw a second bet. For each bet, you can play it safe, or risk it, which could pay out more, or make you lose money. After betting, each player chooses one of the three cards from their hand to secretly add to the race card deck.

Shuffle the deck, burn three cards, and then reveal the cards one by one, moving the pets along the track. They can sometimes deviate off the track and knock over another rider, sometimes turn around, sometimes move all at once, and sometimes just back up! If a runner goes off the track or is in danger of being knocked down after he has already fallen, he is disqualified. If necessary, shuffle all the cards in the deck, burn three cards again, and continue the race until all four places on the podium are occupied. Bets are settled based on these results.

For races 2 and 3, first deal each player a card at random, then place bets again, and then have each player contribute a card from their hand to the game. After race 3, everyone counts their money.
