Arkwright is a budget board game designed by Stefan Risthaus, where players take on the role of entrepreneurs in eighteenth-century England, building and managing factories. In this new anniversary edition, the game has been simplified and updated with a new rulebook and new illustrations. The game offers different gameplay experiences through different modules, including the "Spinning Mule" and "Waterframe" variants, as well as an "East India" module. It also features a single-player mode, called "Automat," which allows a single player to take on artificial opponents.
In Arkwright, players take on the role of entrepreneurs, producing and selling goods such as cloth, cutlery, lamps, and bread in different markets. They run up to four factories, balancing workers and machines, while exploiting the opportunities and challenges presented by the events of the end of the decade. The goal is to outperform the competition, accumulate wealth, and increase the value of the company's shares, without going into debt, which automatically leads to losses. Succeed at the beginning of the Industrial Revolution and drive growth for your business and England.
