"We're sinking!" cries the elephant. "This mouse is too heavy!" "Don't worry!" whispers the lion. "If I eat the giraffe, we can lighten the boat a little."
In All Aboard!, you have to get your band of animals to safety in the different boats, but be careful not to exceed their capacity, or they will sink. Designed by Paco Yánez and illustrated by Monsuros, this fun card game is played in pairs or groups of up to 5 players, from 7 years old, for games of about 20 minutes.
Before starting, each player is given a deck of 12 cards representing the 12 different animals in the game (mouse, peacock, fox, octopus, monkey, sloth, elk, zebra, giraffe, lion, bear, and elephant). The game takes place in 4 rounds, each of which includes two phases: boarding and departure. During the boarding phase, players place one of the animals face up in one of the boats, ensuring that there are no more than 3 animals per boat. In the second round, they will place a new animal in one of the available boats, but this time face down; Finally, in the third round, a third animal will board the available boats, again face up.
At the beginning of the starting phase, all the "animal" cards that have been played face down are revealed, and then it is checked if there are at least two animals of the same species. If there are two, they both fall in love (and players receive points accordingly). If there are three of them, they fight and the boat sinks. Then the animals activate their effects, and then the sum of the animals' weight on board the boat is checked. If the weight of the animals is equal to or less than the load capacity of the boat, the animals manage to go to sea and score points at the end of the game. Each player retrieves their animals and places them in a stack of rescued animals on their play space. If, on the other hand, the boat sinks, the animals are discarded.
Knowing when to play each animal is one of the keys to the game. However, depending on how your opponents play their cards, unforeseen situations can arise aboard the boats. Each animal has its own power, which can wreak havoc or tip the scales. Can you save as many animals as possible?
